You can’t fail to have heard about the social media craze. Not only is it the latest ‘thing’ it’s becoming known as a major way to exchange news and information.

And, just like any kind of media, it can also be a good way to make some money.

Here’s what you need to know about profiting from the Social Media craze…

One of the most important things about social media is that it is a ‘soft sell’ rather than a hard sell media. Basically what you do is offer your prospective customers some interesting and useful information for free. Then slip your selling in under the radar so to speak.

First you’ll need a subject to base your social media presence around. A favourite hobby, sport or interest is ideal. Choose a popular one that lots of other people will want information/tips/ideas/advice about.

If you have (or want to create) your own website the social media is great for generating traffic (and hopefully lots of sales) for it. But even if you don’t you can still make money from the social media.

Here are four easy ways to make money from social media, which you could try:

Blogging: A blog is basically a diary on the Internet where you can post your thoughts, tips, advice and useful material. You can set up a blog for free using Blogger.com.

As well as useful information about your subject you can sell products using affiliate schemes (such as that offered by Amazon, ClickBank or many others), which earn you a commission for each sale. You can also sign up for Google AdSense, which earns you a fee every time one of your visitors clicks on an ad.

Facebook: You might also have a Facebook page, or you can create one for your interest. As well as useful and interesting posts discreetly plug products and services for sale using affiliate schemes.

Twitter: This is one of the newest and most exciting social media. Set up a Twitter account offering news, information and tips about your chosen subject. Follow other Twitter users in your subject of interest and encourage them to follow you. Again, discreetly plug your products and services in your Tweets.

YouTube: With this type of social media you can make money from making videos. Here’s how: create some video giving useful information about your chosen subject. ‘How to’ videos for a hobby or interest area ideal. They only need to be about 1-3 minutes long. Post them up on YouTube. Include a link, mention or screenshot mentioning to your website, blog etc. where visitors can find offers for relevant products and services

Tip: Try to come up with a really clever, funny or humorous video. One that people will want to send to their friends, together with your advertising message. This is known as viral marketing and can be incredibly successful – some of the best viral videos, even very simple ones, get forwarded to hundreds of thousands of people.

This is only a very brief taster of the opportunities to make money from the social media… it’s an area that’s growing at a rapid rate, and new opportunities are emerging all the time. To find out more keep checking back with What Biz Opp? for free blueprints and articles.
